8-12-2010: Total of 300 miles, from cities to cities to pick good spots to catch Perseids meteor shower, four hours round trip to williamsburg jamestown/yorktown, through the creepy forest while worrying about being kidnapped by bears running out of bushes, still not much luck, in the big cemetery of complete darkness which is a perfect play to watch it with dead people of all ages from hell and heaven, no fucking luck either...  Almost forgot about this event but I had a friend to accompany. So far sony ereader prs900 seems great too, except the zooming function still sucks ass comparing to 600's. The battery life for mp3 playing has improved ass well. It's being at least 3hrs now at full volume and hasn't burned through second bar. 8-8-2010: a) Just fixed a footlong oversized subway stuck 75 feet down the sewer line between the house and main sewer. Last night we had a blowout when two showers upstairs were pouring simultaneously, which made the toilet downstairs vomiting like crazy hehehe... We spent fifty bucks with chemical and plumber's flat snake which stopped right before the blockage with insufficient momentum. Too hassitated to called emergency service on fucking Sunday, I decided to rent Easy Rooter from home depot. Why not just call the plumbers and call it a day? Well, who knows how much are they going to charge. With a blockage that deep, these days one can easily pack a load of bullshits and skyrock it to 500 bucks or a couple thousand hehehe... And if they can't fix it, they would recommend hardcore replacement fucking fuck hahaha... And somehow I doubt in their competency in fixing the problem without making stupid arrogant suggestions... So here I was 830am and ran to rental tools center and came back in half an hour. It took less than five minutes to clear everything out of the pvc pipe, 75 feet all the way to the main sewer line :-)... Anyways, the real causation to the problem was that I had been flushing all kinds of papers down the toilets. Never had a problem before but since I was the only one at home for a while the stuff been dried up on the waste line might be the actual cause leading to blockage... Okay I would admit I fucking did it hehehe... Something he could do: 1) go to browsers histories and grab them, 2) while still copying, check the history and look for identity related material (do this because this may be his last time accessible to the pc) and also check the router with default passwords to grab macs of the machines, 3) install keylogger or the like and make sure it remains hidden on start up, preferably something that sends feedback remotely, 4) go to log files to see what has been accessed by the thief, 5) With all that done, don't just watch and wait for the rabbit, use the IP with time and date, and contact authorities, ISP, or 3rd party services to obtain location and identity of the registered owner of the IP, 6) Now go raid, hopefully with reliable/competent law enforcement authority on the door and ask/look for potential suspects given the time date in your hand.  Too bad you aint celebrity so "top cocks"(in reference to faux moment) wont work as hard.  That's the way to go.  But you know what? 7-19-2010: a) 昨天九点半起床，上上网，去那边跟朋友聊聊天，吃吃午餐，喝喝咖啡饮料，谈了大半天。结果有点中暑了。头痛想呕回家直冒冷汗。又跟另一位要好的朋友聊了满久。休息后又跟他们聊了几个小时，还跑到外面，直到半夜十二点。还想着减肥，她奶奶地，简直饿的像只野狗，把冰箱翻遍了也只找到啃又啃不得的鸡鸭鱼肉。总不能生吞鸡蛋或者马铃薯吧。。。没办法，一个人在家又懒着shopping. 突然间好想妈妈呀！！！有老婆也挺不错的哈哈哈。。。差不多十二点四十五分才把馒头跟鱼汤搞定，还把东西撒到地板哈哈哈。。。真丢人，煮了半天还是蒸馒头，还在地上撒东西。干脆一头撞墙死了算了:-)。然后正想倒垃圾，oh my fucking God，上星期忘了把垃圾倒掉哈哈哈。。。咳，简直是被扒了一层皮。不过时间过得挺充实的^_^。虽然已经被晒的像黑鬼，下午还是可以去沙滩玩，表扬表扬，鼓励鼓励自己嘿嘿嘿。。。 b) 刚刚突然想起某个人提到过一位DR姐姐，好像是做那专长。听起来还没嫁人。咳，可惜没碰面的机会，自己也没本事吧。咳，咳，咳。可惜可惜可惜呀。。。上帝无聊，整天没事找擦，老是阻碍他人的行程。因为他说过："我就是道路，真理，生命。" hehehe...  这年头，谁都讲真理，挂羊头卖狗肉。可是真正能做到的又有多少？

7-18-2010: God I think I am a little addicted to caffeine. It gets hard to go by the day without a cup or two of starbucks coffee...  All sort of headaches kicks in in the morning and late night.  I hate the asshole who got me into drinking it! Just kidding hehehe, he is a very good friend of mine...  In the absence of caffeine with too much soda from fast food res, I had strange delusions the whole day yesterday worse than first overdose from coffee.  The good thing (might as well be the problem) is starbucks is so fucking close to my house and I can always grab a cup on the way.

7-17-2010:  It was a great time talking to a lost friend. What a poor guy hehehe...  While I won't say much about him, respecting his privacy, there is no doubt in my mind that he has had gone though a hell load of rough times. Based on what happened along his past, we can see a number of things wrong in this society. All too glad that this little brave man made it through the messes :-).  So proud for him hehehe...  What do we know, after the thunders always comes the almighty sun, more real and better than jesus...  But you know what? Wherever there is life form there will be problems; if living were fucking flat, there will be no value in life whatsoever...  In a more self-centered view, I am also very proud of what I did in such situation :-).  The true nature of mankind is all too easy to see and understand when things go wrong...  But if you look far enough, you will make a better choice, may not necessarily the right ones though...

7-12-2010: a) 今天聊了满多事情，大失所望。可惜我们不是上帝，没有改造思维的权利。 b) 咳，每天出去吃再多跑几回buffet，马上要从小绵羊变成大母猪，烤了给人吃人家还嫌油腻呢。。。 c) 刚才提到开长途勾起了一段完事。那是我这一生中头痛的最猛烈的一次吧。很少跟别人提起开车"恐惧症"的来源。记得在星期一之前到处跑，买了一台手提跟改造了一些功能。差不多累得筋疲力尽。星期一早上到学校上8:00am的summer课程，直到6pm左右。然后打印出行程。或许是车开的太滥了吧（满同情瞎猫捉耗子地），第二天5am左右才到长岛。把礼物放了直奔麦当劳，同时体会到狗熊饿肚皮的感受哈哈哈。然后还不知死活地到处逛逛，回味着熟悉的脚步。。。然后又在强烈的阳光下跑了回去。越过了天降瀑布，牛头马面们，在第三天的凌晨安全归来。孤零零由停车场跑回lab，拼了命地把功课做完。继续过着星期一般的课程，只是灵魂早就跑回车子睡大头觉罢了。。。然后还假装在朋友家完成了追命式的project，跟家里人报个平安哈哈哈。。。不记得第三天的晚上是怎么过的，好像是不好意思带着黑溜溜的眼圈回去，所以跑到朋友家睡大觉。也算是体会到三天没睡觉到处奔波的心态了吧。。。这中间的波折，想起来还是挺害怕地。不过那已经是乳臭未干的晚事。罗冈年后才体会到：人真的是个麻木的动物，在生活上，欲望上，或是感情上，欺骗自己，不断地给自己找圈圈转个不停。。。

6-16-2010: Finally back and before I forget, what a bizarre date it was... She appeared nice and looking great. Without any make up she has a fairly good golden ratio on her face, except the chin(and the ass hehehe damn evil kid). Nice curvature with the nose unlike a typical asian, just out flat. Smooth facial skin except on the nose. Although her hair wasn't completely done, well, it still looked great. Nice body type. Somewhere near her left elbow there was a scarf probably from a burn. ...and working very hard on her job. I bet if I have to change into her major it would be relatively easy since autocad is pretty easy to use from my experience. Here is the thing that I just don't get it. I am just an average guy somewhat fat with average looking face and out of date haircut. I don't have six packs and in nowhere close enough being classified as handsome. And I am not rich either... I don't understand why would someone go out with a guy who has, to my view, nothing to offer to her... I bet she could find someone better with relative ease. 6-15-2010: Before I forget, I heard my aunty said that it was x's little sisy who's getting married. So it wasn't her haha... A little disappointed though but I guess she's still looking for her white ass prince, not necessarily bad or good, out of fairies in a panic zone... Anyways, I was spending time with my sisy and grandpa yesterday, talking about the old days, the stuff that I have no memory of or could barely recall... Some were pretty sweet but I trashed it anyways...  3) I have forgotten tons of electronics stuff I built as a professional hobbyist and the stuff I broke messing with it :-). All trashing out in x-sized trash bags hahaha...  4) So much madness from my fucking notes taken while in school, the worst was from dr gonzalez's classes. All those handouts of revisions of virtually identical copies with changes spread across the pages somewhere, my fucking gods, it still godamn freaks me out just trying pieces together. To the hell trashhhh KKan damn it along with other pos notes hahaha...    5) And lastly, something very disturbing. I was a medium for tao li at some point where she was busy and intimidated by some bullshits accusing her of such and such, all the while when she was pregnant. I guess I was very busy on my own stuff as well and have forgotten to give her the stuff I picked up for her. And that stuff contained a forward copy of the emails of long conversations between the parties along with permission for pickup. Yeah can you believe it slipped through my eyes unnoticed for those years??? Just now I have a much complete, if not in its entirety, understanding of the shameful series of incident. It is a shame that no one stood up to the truth and gave her the support when needed the most, as now I know of and understand, not even the school officials up there. It was about a fucking professor(I think) who rents "trial" cd/dvd disks and makes a forturne out of it. The scam goes like this: 1) The clients request free copies of disks for trial purposes provided that they give in credit card payment infos. 2) If the clients do not want to keep the disks, they must sent the disks back within certain time frame. 3) If the client takes no action the damage will be billed to their credit cards may it be monthly indefinite or one-time payment. So the lesson is what you don't see in those microscopic clauses can... ...well, isn't that obvious?? What a shame of the scammers.... However if bad behaviors/excercises were not encouraged by the stupidity of human nature, especially in the time of desperation, the reinforcement upon the scammers would cease to exist.... What I hate about: 1) Crash on sleep/hibernate with my pcie hardware raid, 2) needless to say incapable of remotely turning on my beast, locally or over the internet, 3) all those fucking naggers' security features on the control panel that treat users like they are fucking morons or retards!!!, 4) Fucking retarded C:\User permission locks on folders and shortcuts. Hate it because you have to change permissions to make it accessible to set profile for default users. The recursive address bar looping was just stupid. 5) The retarded age old 4GB ram cap for 32-bit was still stupid. Like the XP, you just have to patch the kernel to get 8/16GB or whatever the fuck particle:-), 6) I dont give a fuck about the bitlocker, or malware removal's and the like, 7) breaks all fucking sandbags(sandbox), even in so-called "windows XP mode". What the hell just get the vmware or virtualbox :-). On the other hand, there are things I like about it: 1) driver issues seem to go away, 2) fabulous pile of eye-candies :-). 3) You cannot currently bypass logon passwords :-), Oh Godamnit hahaha... Thus it wont be too long before... 4) driver-less (usb flash drive) installation seems as easy (actually easier) as winxp, no fucking (virtual) floppy needed. 5) File copies seem to be faster than xp. 6) What's up with all the wars on 32 vs 64? If there is no need for 64, why the hell bother to upgrade :-). 7) Lastly and most importantly, it seems to better manage the tasks under extreme cpu loading conditions, so far so good with different performance/stability torture tests :-). The apps exit/terminate properly as oppose to hanging out with the xp's :-). Besides the windows, comodo internet security, in my opinion, is the best security product :-) The firewall is just too fucking awesome :-) along with av and new features, forget about stupid bitdefender's which seems to become the next norton or zone-alarm. I would rather have virus poisoning(although unlikely) my machine than having stuffs like norton raping resources on my fucking pc :-). Gee it would probably run better if win7 was on the 'VegetarianBeast' lappy with better eye-candies and resource mgmt. But years back the win7 wasnt out yet. 3-18-2010: Is it just bad luck or what? This happened some weeks back. My ext backup died on me with most uptodate contents. Yep it's the most fucking infamous Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 firmware that not only bricked my hdd but also killed the motor, leaving it absolutely unrevivable without data recovery service... And that wasn't the worst, my main storage got corrupted as well, oh godamnit... Fortunately, I had a 3rd backup disk partially sync with lappy. Thank goodness everything back to normal without any loss and I didn't have to physically destroy the bits with a hammer.

Now all of the hard drives has read-the-fucking-bits-only folders grayed out. Nothing seems to fix the problem. Maybe an year or so back I showed him many videos on how some of the most astonishing tricks are performed.  And just this semester he got involved with the magician's club in school.  Every week he would be too eager to show me new tricks that he just learned on the very same day.  And then I had to act in a complete disbelieve. The reaction you get on his face is just too adorable and priceless :-).  Makes learning a bit more interesting I bet.   c) DOES NOT COMPUTE, the saliva says [link].  It would be nice to see a hybrid of ssd and hdd drives coming out such that the speed and lifespan complement to give more optimal solution.  You could set up a site that collects behaviors of certain programs, probably already exist, and use that information to decide whether certain programs should recite on ssd and that certain writing intensive program folders (just an index extended from ssd table) should be on hdd with virtual mapping which marries to ssd...  Make better use of both technology :-).  At least it should give users some options.  d) So there is your xgirlfriend, trying out windows7 look-alike without the belly of course but still damn buggy [1][2].  e) How to mental cap your mind upside down [link].  Pretty damn clever :-). 

11-9-2oo9: Just came back home for one day.  So here I am, sitting in StarBucks in Virginia Beach all by myself, so quiet and looking at something.  So this is what it is like to be in complete isolation hahaha...   Maybe try to call up your distance buddies to get by...  My fucking friend in Texas (HAHAHA...), I hear your voice heeheeheeee....   Anyways the place seemed quieter than ever.  I drove to VB this afternoon by myself from NN just to get to the Vietnamese Restaurant Pho79 in VB as usual.  Maybe it was just Monday that there wasn't much of traffic. Or maybe it is just getting freaking quite here.  The steak noodle soup and my favorite coffee with condensed milk didn't taste as good as before.  Maybe it had to do with the change of ownership since I didn't see those folks there.  The Asian grocery store nearby were too quite as well with the new owner. Shall I conspire it to economic disaster hahaha....  Two things well-correlated but isn't necessarily true. So there I was, grabbed a cup of starbucks and at some point in time headed back home, thinking about how my ambition has decayed through time...
  Two things and the first one being about the career.  Sometimes I wish to gang up with my friends to do something useful. But then everyone got married and has had kids, except a few poor little kitties, well, just like me :=)...  On the other hand, I wish to find a job with things I love to do, preferably within an open-minded teamwork...  Experience from past years has made me hesitated to participate which goes against the very nature of my personality and it sucked big time :-(.  I guess that's why I love undergrad years so much, people being open-minded and simply, well, being simple...  Maybe that kind of team spirit has become legend and then myth. What the hell  hahaha...  ...and the other thing being family.  I dont know. The way I see it from my friend in Penn state, you wake up every morning at 630am, clean up yourself and drive to work, hopefully not disturbed your still sleeping wife (with your pillow ^_^ or scream about burning house, being immature myself sounds like fun hehee) who is in totally unrelated career :-(.  Your job seems to get bored doing same thing everyday. And finally you drive back home at the end of the day, getting stuck in traffic so madly and maybe trying to call up your friends hahaha...  Around 630pm or so, ahhh glory God, you're finally at the table with your wife and your kids screaming not, I hope :=).  Being Asian heritage, don't forget your parents are there on the table too hahaha...  And that your parents try to do your job, parenting your kids, occasionally screamed to catch the screams hahaha....  Well, at least you get free babysitters to babysit the kids, and to babysit you (just kidding here).  Then you clean up yourself and other things and before you knew it, you're heading to bed for tomorrow.  I guess life would have being too boring and wasteful in this lifestyle.  Sure it could be fun for some parts. But maybe before you knew it, you are just getting fucking too old with too much spongy momentum of do-nothingism (I am not talking about you my dear friend, fingers-crossed megalut style^_^, kidding)...  I don't know if I would want to live just like that, you know, before you knew it, still trying to kick your way out six feet under...  Or do I want my life be involved with someone of similar career? I know it is impossible but that doesn't mean you cannot think about it...  Supposed we work at the same company hypothetically, we wake up at the same time, going to work.  Have our lunch session together, maybe attempting to make our colleagues jealous about us that we could do the job and have wife/husband at the same time :=).  Going home and all synch'ed for rest of the day etc...  All lovely, except one problem.  Some years from now your desires and thirst for the very passion from old days may have degraded to a mere friendship...  Fucking live with it bitches and suck it up hahaha...  Havent thought about it but on the third option, perhaps being single may not be so bad.  First, the human race wont ceased to exist (shaking my head in smile). Secondly, you may not be able to solve the climate problem but at the least you may be able to powerlessly, I stretch powerlessly, help controlling the problem of over-population so to speak :=)...   And then every time you get to see your siblings, their children, and your parents, well, congratulations on your success to the road of mind-reader, I pity you hahaha...  Derren Brown wouldn't have done so better than yours ^_^.   Okay, enough of arse-ic childish thoughts.   At the end of the day, I think having a wife in different career would be better than the latter cases - work profession-ship, family, and a sense of free space for everyone, even the kids and rrrrhhhh your parents :=)...  And hopefully, they are not still trying to tell you what to do heehee....   Or just show them the video about 2g1c so that every time they tell you what to do, it will always remind them of that horrific nightmare and nerve breakdown :=). 
  So this morning I woke up and finished evaluating some design tools from the past weeks. And it was so fucking awesome; at the same time, it was just depressing, well, sort of...  I wish I had gone to a better school for a broader perspective and excitement; at least, it would have made my life more resourceful, interesting, and challenging...   Why the hell didn't I think of those ideas?  Or am I just fucking bone-headed and stuck it up my arse and that a fart or two just wouldnt do it??  I feel like an ignorant asshole at this very moment...  But you know what it kinda ticks as I am typing right now... 
  Life is a series of puzzles and I think I just have found a few more pieces today!  Being an engineer, I will be happy so long it is close enough ;-]. It's 3:32am and I hope everything happened yesterday is not just a mere illusion of that fucking cup of coffee ^_^.  Ahhhh.... 11-4-2oo9: a) While Xilinx Virtex-6 isn't at its mass production stage, this engineering sample kit will make an excellent toy to mess around [link]. It will not be as perfect as production quality but hell for its performance and density (~150K 6-input LUTs with dual regs + ~800 DSP48E slices), and support package. The only down side is its unidentified chip errata and the factory lead time :-(. Other than that, it would also make a perfect co-processor for next couple years. On the other hand, I think the other matured development boards are way over priced. The FPGA chip being expensive, that part I can understand. What I dont get is the PCB board itself. I mean these days it is not hard to manufacture eight to fourteenlayer printed circuit board and the cost isn't terrably expensive either. You just need to keep track of cross interference, trace length and impedance matching so to speak. b) Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you the successor of the Italian English, the Indian English [link].

Probably will setup a watchdog by hardware or software the next time I head home for the reboot. And getting rid of BitDefender shitware will be of my first priority. Sayonara!!! Good thing that I upgraded my laptop and took almost everything I needed to get going :-). b) I was looking for a way to share web storage securely and boooo!!! On the bright side, listen to your hearts my friends and, from time to time, don't let the societal projections and stereotypes guide you into unwise least rightful decisions or corrosive behaviors. If being evil resembles the spread of ill-causing viruses, then being heartful to lend hands to others less fortune may well be another domain of ill-causing viruses, ill-causing to bond and disintegrate the dark side... And if we step back to inspect the causality in both domains, they look quite similar. A person acts more or less based on his cumulated observation of others. And that value gets passed on to others in chicken-and-egg fashion. The logic makes great sense to me. Everybody has the choice to make. While there may be no immediate benefit or return in near future, it does add up to you as a person, be it a good person, a bad person, or someone in layers of masks. And up to certain level, the noise cancellation kicks in with excellent quality and isolation. The background noise just vanished into non-existence... My cell phone was about one foot away from my ear and I couldn't hear it screaming :-).  Noise cancellation is not new, but logitech made very good use of it :-).  e) A terabyte finger-size chip [link]. 10-22-2oo9: a) I guess I have been knocked out cold for a while and I am still going kinda slow with the dsp stuff :-(.  Yeah, it is very sad that I have forgotten so many goodies.  I was still reading about some FIR filters with difference equations (yeah it was fucking that slow), but something kicks in, perhaps, by common sense...  The whole thing about the difference filters and related transformations (sadly still in difference equations) is not much different from differential equations, whether you are trying to simplify it or not. All you do is just plug-it-in and plug-it-in :-).  And the thing that ticks me is that I feel a hell lot better than the first time I learned it officially in the class, well, years back.  Is it coincident or systematic that these methodologies even connect with circuit theory (mmmmm.... some fucking fuzzy feeling still recites), needless to say I haven't had touched that subject in ages either.  Well in all sense I think forgottening things makes resurrection much more exciting......   Ever since I got "redirected" into hardware field during the graduate years, I have had great senses of lost of freedom to think and do things that interested me in different ways.  And I know that it may well be too late to think otherwise. Don't get me wrong that I love hardware stuff; but that is only a portion of my career. And I want to learn more things (that are practical in engineering perspective).  And at this moment, although I just finished reading through chapter 2 out of 12, I could resonate the proximity between these two subjects intertwined and danced on the ice :-).  What the fucking fuck the hell have I been thinking in the past three years????!!!!  More precisely, where the fuck was my mind, running on water??  Maybe the problem is that I should have gone to a better school, I dont know...  With that all said and done, I shall look forward to a brighter future.  I wish there is a solid job offer that allows me to do fpga as coprocessor/accelerator at the same time trains me into signal processing field. 10-19-2oo9: a) :-) Too much of pain to go through the textbook and supplements page by page but kinda starting to come back with goofy dsp stuff.  Hopefully it would go much faster once pick up the momentum.  Fuck it, I hate the guys who didn't return my notes and hw problems...  Same thing goes to five other textbooks. One of my favorite was digital logics design since I made numerous very insightful notes right in the book.  b) So this is what happens when one samples the signal near Nyquist rate, except we demonstrate it with a guy who runs over the crosswalk and a bus that takes the sampling [link].  It worked out pretty well, said, both parties are very professional in proving the theorem in a live demo :-).  c) Justice goes to whoever breaks the justice, whether youre a fucking doctor or not :-) [link]. So told him that he would understand it when he gets a little older.  8-30-2CC9:(PROJECT9.7): Finally recover from bios crash on Acer Aspire One AOA150. For some reason it just blocked out when I first tried to upgrade the BIOS using the flash utility. It blocked out so completely that there was nothing left in the flash rom, not quite sure if there was something wrong in the hardware or not. Not even the CRISIS DISK was able to bring back any response. The only way to revive the netbook was to take out the BIOS flash rom and manually program it with the hex file. And it worked out great as expected. The AOA110 SSD edition has W25X80A from WinBond while the AOA150 edition has  EN25F80 (F80-75HCP) from EON. Both are 1MByte serial SPI EEPROM.  I tried a couple times to re-flash the BIOS after reviving it and same thing happened. Kinda weird... Would have been better if allowed xp can be installed to usb hdd/flash and run from there.

It is quite often the person, the acting media, that gets the recognition or fame.  People want to get famous in some sense and that their research is worth something of significant values. If it comes naturally in a good professional manner with ethics and integrity hand-in-hand, it is of even greater value than the sole results from the work alone. 5-29-2oo9: Big Mess o' Wires: Home-made CPU [link]. Totally kicks ass :-D...  Not nearly as elegant as this one but it kinda reminded the stuff I did years back. It wasn't a custom CPU, just regular microprocessor with some rams/roms customized into different banks to support runtime modification of programs (not a good practice but it saves memory and compacts down coding in assembly).  It was loaded with tons of GPIOs/serialIOs as well as a small cluster of micro-controllers. The system had insane number of ios soldered onto the underside of breadboards for experimentation. The basic operating system was written in assembly (hand written and translated into machine code). After I learned C++ programming, back to the community college, I think, I decided to use high level programming to take control of the system. That was a hell lot of fun. It is estimated to have around 1000 wires SOLDERED to and routed beneath the sockets. Oh let's not forget the speed-stepping functionality I incorperated into the system so it may vary the execution/system clock :-). Pretty amazing considering that I learned something about the microprocessors and the systems out of high school readings on my spare time.  Sometimes I wish I should have gone to a more helpful and sincere school...  All these years in grad school seemed to take away my motives and ambition, in a loose tense, being hipnotized...  It made the years in undergrads more intellectual and anticipated with just about everybody close to you, so open-minded and willful to work things out :-)...  Ahhh crap, whatever... Anyways, even that system I built is nothing compared to the Big Mess o' Wires, I still feel nerdy at least for the part that I tried my best.  SUCK ON IT HAHAHA [link]....

It seemed that he was excited while he was having his lunch just outside the kuf. Well I am not sure if it would seem as exciting once he gets a hold of it and install winxp on it because it is not as easy as it may appears to be.  The netbook comes with linux and you have to make an installable xp on usb flash drive. It wasn't too bad although a bit slow on ssd version. But to make it run smooth on netbook, you have to nlite and slipstream the xp to sp3 with most, if not all, unnecessary services and visuals disabled.  I mean it's a near barebone xp. That part took a while to complete. Once installation is done, you have to disable all unnecessary hardware components and dim the backlight to save power. In addition, you've got to optimize ssd in power setting, monitor timeout, and cpu fan control to further extend the battery power. The pagefile and hibernate settings should also be disabled on ssd to maximize read performance and extend write cycles. Occasional defrag is good, just a few times after you put everything on the disk). Nothing is free, you've got to take care of it though.  One more thing, one should avoid installing gazillion heavy applications on the machine; it's just not designed to drag the dead horses...  Yeah that's roughly what it took for me to make best use of the battery for a whole day computing :-).  Oh one more thing, get a portable lightweight free firewall and a antivirus program. Be warned that your av software can make your netbook run like a fucking dog. I did an experiment on both settings, the bootup + startup time with av install can add up additional delay of one minute and beyond (analized with bootvis). It can also take up 200MB or more on av background service from time to time. The lightweight firewall was okay with resource friendly service. I mean if you know what you are doing, you rarely ever need the av running in the background, seriously.  It's a great machine nonetheless :-) Loving it....  ..and every pixel counts!!! Never had to bring adaptor to school hahaha...  It's just backpack, netbook and a headphone. The cold boot plus login took about 30-35 seconds now with some startup programs and tools like c++, matlab, etc... not too bad :-)...  It's only $240 bucks yet does a much more efficient job than regular laptops.  f) Embarrassing godamnit...  I have problem with headphone on while working and completely ignoring my surrounding. And when someone instantly appears in front of me, it scares the shit out of me that I sometimes almost fell off my chair...  It's much worse than watching any other horror movies. What a fucking chicken dude...  gee) Praying instead of taking emergency procedure resulted with 16 people killed plus 10 yrs jail time [link]. 1. #1 School kills creativity, admit it you a hell bunch of spongies. You are constantly been told what to do, not how to think.

2. #2 You are trained to be obedient workers. "That's right, obedient workers who know nothing else but understanding the instructions - George Carlin."  School tags your butt with scores for your future employers.  I personally know a jackass who has 4.0 GPA at some point. You read that right!

3. Say Hello to "Diploma", your "qualification" to a demanded hi-tech market with fucking over-crowed work force.  Strong workforce isn't necessarily a bad thing, but hope your school curriculums caught up with the technology on-demand. 

4. Community college is economical and BETTER than a straight four-year university. I was a transferred student and I know it to my heart, at least for my case.  Some teachers I met are like mothers nurturing their sons.  And I was (and still has been) deeply enlightened by a few. 

5. If you decided to attend graduate school, I suggest you to think thoroughly before even making any commitment. Ask yourself what are your purposes, what do you want out of it, and where would you go from there :-).   I sincerely suggest you to read phdcomics.com. It has vital clues (at least the part about hierarchy being married to a colleague who is absolutely nice 100% of the time. Forget about the fairy of your frog prince in a well) to unfold what it is like (pros and cons) in grad school hahaha.... 

6. Man, I need to jack up the list.

Having said all that, I am too glad that I attended grad school. If I could go back four years, I would make much better decisions out of it :-).  Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.  Well, fuck you because I know how it is made and I am gonna make a box of those I liked and distributed it :-).  I have a dream, a new one after the old one married to kriss.  Well, not exactly new dream either but an extension of the revitalized (I took the soul back and left kriss with corpse ^_^).  The reason I decided to go to college and the kindness of a couple teachers who had entrenched into my mind, had germinated the seed bearded in me.  As naive and childish as some people might think of or evaluate me, I dont give a fuck about it.  I wish to create something basic to inspire younger generations who hasn't or doesn't have an opportunity to pricy higher education, to trigger and raise their curiosity for something meaningful to come...  Some people invest with money for different returns.  Not necessarily good or bad coz that's what we all do for a living. Besides that I wish to invest in a puny part of mindset that if I were able to bring warmth to your heart, I only ask you to pass it on the warmth kindly to enlighten persons who need a hand to hold (of course, not an as o_O^).  I felt that I have a responsibility to pass on the passion I have received.  And that was the best I could do to pay back :-).  Now would you excuse me I have to call some of my friends in Nigeria...   ...just kidding :-)... 
   Forgot to mention there was a clever kid (who appeared and worked quite sloppy) in my 489 class last fall (the first time I taught it and tweaked the project ^_^ awesome!).  I felt very bad for giving the person imperfect grade because of the grading policy (sucks I know).  If I could, I would most definitely give an A++). I may not know about other classes but creativity-wise, that person was better than the most brilliant (highest grade) student within the class.  I mean it's sad man...  GPA is not everything, neither is schooling. So is the appearance, the higher education or how you can please other people for statuary gain. The most important attribute nothing else can buy (please, not your fucking visa card for sure!) is whatever you have inside you...

This picture visualizes a fairly accurate representation of the academic life in graduate school.  You have an advisor but there are a number of graduate students, sometimes postdocs, that is ass-kissers and tries their best to act as the advisors to the newbie graduate students and steal your credits through manipulation of complex equations.  When there is enough funding, there are tensed arguing. Once there is a shortage of funding, the dog fight begins :-).  It will reveal the true nature of what graduate students are capable of doing...  It had happened to me before from newbie toward a complete (I am not a mathematician and being an engineer complete means as close as I can get) understanding of the structure.  You know I am not sure if I should hate the guy who tricked and took great advantages of me or that I should be thankful of such incidents and many before me.  But my observation tells me that I shall be very thankful and glad that it happened.  If it didn't, I will still be a newbie by now.  The best of all, it made me realize that my biggest weakness is also my strongest strength - treat others as sincere and honest as I would treat myself...  And if he wants to be a manipulative freak, that is his problem and doesn't really changed who I am...  So my model of morality is this, simple as it is: "I treat you nice because I am nice, not that you are useful to me in any ways to step on for levitation of my status w.r.t the atmosphere and then dump you in the face."  Everyone has their own version of morality through observation and compromises of different attributes. Life is only a one-time journey, choose yours well and make the best out of it...  Everyone makes mistakes, it is a mountain of courage to admit the mistakes. And only that happens would one prevent similar future mistakes and improve the quality of being...  To some, this perception may be naive but you know what I dont really care, coz that is your problem.  Just a last word or two, I am totally the guy sitting on the floor, ignoring everyone else.  I may not be a knowledgeable person or claim to be intelligent or creative, but I refuse to be an ass-kisser :-). This netbook is amazing. 1) 6:05AM 100% woke up with the laptop fully charged in standby mode.  2) 8:00AM in kuf already started browsing and doing text editing (C++) with music on headphone.  3) 1:59pm lunch time (15mins standby). 4) going back to programming with some rock music.  5) Joked a little with my friends in kaufman hall.  6) 4:58pm on the way home.  7) 6:10pm at home to check the battery and it still has 15% charge.  8) overall, it lasted about 9 hours with the wifi on. It could have last longer if I disabled other hardware components and put the wifi on power saving mode (or disable it when not surfing).  But then you get to the problem of frequent dropping with the connection [link].

3-3-2oo9: a) Neo-republican logic, full of irony [1][2].  b) I was going to mod the battery pack of my aspire one ssd edition to 12-cells.  Maybe a little obsessed for a moment, what's the point of adding more cells when I can manage to optimize a full charge to last for 10 hours already??  Nonsense...  Overall, the netbook is excellent for energy efficient computing...  For that reason, I gave my gateway tablet pc to another person because I dont need  the computing power of a desktop replacement laptop and that the efficiency is the most important parameter.  Besides, I can always connect to my quadcore extreme pc :-).  For a while we take the high capacity batteries for granted (god given magic wand), I now actually appreciate a hell lot more for the work done in li-ion field [link][2]. It was a heck load of pain to tweak the configuration.

Perhaps it is 4GBx4, giving a 60MB/s boundary or so  ignoring overheads.  Having owned/bought a dozen PCs, this one turns out to the best ever in terms of optimization of various aspects.  Fucking loving it....  Now I can do cool stuffs, once a 9cell is installed, without tying to the desktop or the plug in's.  With all basic programs installed, this babe still has 13GB free space or so!!!  After jacking matlab, opencv, office, and .net etc, I still had ni 8 GB space.
